If the Hamptons is not for you, land here for a quieter atmosphere. Less than 2 hours by train or car, North Fork is true farmland on the sound, in addition to farms, you will find wineries and local breweries. Buy plenty of fresh produce as you drive by numerous farm stands. So nice to support local farmers and small business!
New London, Ct.
A best kept secret, New London has a booming downtown area, with a waterfront boardwalk. Historic buildings, & art centers are a nice break from the beach. A beautiful ferry ride takes you to Block Island, another secluded getaway for those of us seeking R & R.
New Yorkers love this place…& why not? It has art, restaurants, old world ambience. Isn’t it nice to feel like you have just stepped into a scene from a Jimmy Stewart movie? Where simply strolling down a street in a country town , brings back memories of a time gone by. Within a couple of hours, you can be in a thriving community, offering so much more than you can imagine.
